Street sign teaching urban ecology
"Please do not feed the chickens because of the rats". A sign I found in the industrial area & I did indeed see a whole bunch of chickens. Urban chickens are rare but have been covered before. If there is a sign there is probably a permanent rat problem.
Urban chickens are very interesting. There are two kinds:
BeantwoordenVerwijderen- semi feral chickens - often in industrial edgelands
- tame chickens - held as a novelty, often in the suburbs
Both are fun to meet. I know someone who keeps two Sumatran Fighting Chickens in the center of Rotterdam. The look like chicken pitbulls.
